Getting your pet microchipped

With the introduction of new cat and dog laws  - all animals are now required to be microchipped. Contact your local council for further information.

Microchipping can be done at any age. It is a quick and simple procedure that can be done in just a few minutes. A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice, and is implanted under your pets skin via a needle (similar to a vaccination.) Each microchip has a unique number which is linked to your contact details on a national register. Microchips are a permenant form of identification, unlike collars and tags which can be removed or fall off. A microchip will greatly increase your chances of having your pet returned safely should they ever manage to wander off or get lost.

Spearwood vet offers micrchipping at $60, with a multiple pet discount.
